But not for the hundreds of precocious schoolhouse students from passim Los Angeles County who attended the10th yearly Prom Dress & Tux Gift-Away and Resource Fair that were offered free general attire astatine the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel connected April 25.
The arena was hosted by Positive Results Center. Hundreds of students from crossed Los Angeles County were fixed the opportunity to shop and person free general prom attire astatine the event.
“Our dream is that they recognize that if they can’t spend it, that they merit it,” said Kandee Rochelle Lewis, CEO of Positive Results Center (PRC). “These children merit to person the champion of everything,” she said.
Over a 100 volunteers helped students find the correct attire, shoes and accessories. Students were offered a prime from prom dresses to pants suits.
“Zero to thirty” are the dress sizes,” said Lewis. Shoes, purses, make-up and jewelry were besides donated.
“We want to make judge everyone is taken attraction of,” Lewis continued. “Everything you spot successful location is donated,” said Lewis.
Once uncovering the correct attire, students had their unofficial prom photographs taken. After each were fitted, the smiles were abundant arsenic the students near the arena fresh for the upcoming prom season.
“Prom is much than a dance, it’s a rite of passage. This arena reminds young group that they are worthy of celebration, belonging and agleam futures,” Lewis said.
The arena was besides sponsored by Thrive Causemetics, Brotherhood Crusade, the Department of Mental Health, Los Angeles City Councilmember Heather Hutt and Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly Mitchell.
